George Albert Workman retired when he was 63, after working as a gardener for Rawtenstall Corporation for many years. Before that, he had worked at Holden's Butchers in Bank Street. His religious associations were with Kay Street Baptist Church, with which he had a long connection. He died in 1965, aged 82, at 24 Hargreaves Drive, Rawtenstall and was buried in Rawtenstall cemetery.
